Azure APIM Series 1: What is the API Management
These series are planned to share all of the subjects I experienced in Azure API Management. I’m planning to share what is and how you can implement Azure APIM features, policies, authentications, logging, and access group. Enjoy and stay tuned :)
Azure API Management is a cloud-based service that helps you publish, secure, analyze, and monitor your APIs. It provides a single point of management for your APIs, making it easy to control who can access them, how they are used, and how they are logged. It provides a comprehensive set of features for managing the entire API lifecycle, from development to production.
Some of the key features of Azure API Management include:
· API publishing: Azure API Management makes it easy to publish your APIs to a variety of channels, including the Azure portal, the API Management developer portal, and the Swagger UI.
· API security: Azure API Management provides a variety of security features to protect your APIs, including API keys, OAuth 2.0, and IP filtering.
· API transformation: Azure API Management allows you to transform your APIs before they are exposed to consumers. This can be used to add or remove features, change the data format, or apply business logic.
· API analytics: Azure API Management provides detailed analytics about your APIs, including API usage, latency, and errors. This information can be used to optimize your APIs and improve the user experience.
· API monitoring: Azure API Management allows you to monitor your APIs for errors and performance issues. This information can be used to identify and fix problems before they impact your users.
· API gateway: The API gateway acts as a front door for your APIs, providing a single point of entry for all requests. This helps to protect your APIs from unauthorized access and to improve performance by caching responses.
· API policies: API policies allow you to control the behavior of your APIs. You can use policies to enforce security, manage throttling, and transform data.
· Developer portal: The developer portal provides a self-service portal for developers to explore and consume your APIs. This portal can be customized to match your branding and to provide documentation, samples, and other resources for developers.
Azure API Management is a powerful tool that can help you improve the security, performance, and usability of your APIs. If you are looking for a way to manage your APIs, Azure API Management is a great option.
